Have you been in an emergency situation and wondered if there was anything you could do to help your horse while waiting for the vet?

If so then Equine Muscle Release Therapy’s (EMRT™) Veterinary approved “First Aid for Horses” Course is for you.

You will learn how to:

  • How to handle your animal in a First Aid situation

  • When to call the Vet

  • Check the horse/ Small Animal’s vital signs

  • How to stop  bleeding, manage wounds and bandaging

  • How to deal with common First Aid conditions e.g. Azoturia (tying up), Anhidrosis (dry coat), bowed tendon, choke, colic  in horses etc whilst waiting for the vet.

  • First aid Procedures

  • EMRT™ First Aid Remedies

  • EMRT™ First Aid Emergency moves – these moves are only to be used in an Emergency First Aid situation.

EMRT™ / CCmrt™Practitioner Courses

This professional level course will be offered to any person who wishes to help their own animals & become a professional therapist with recognised qualifications with the Equus College of Learning & Research (ECL&R) to the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia (BTAA)

Acceptance onto EMRT™ course requires the applicant to have a sound knowledge and understanding of the horse industry and practical hands on background in dealing with horses

Acceptance onto CCmrt™ course requires the applicant to have a sound knowledge and understanding of the dog and / or cat industry and practical hands on background in dealing with dogs and cats

Practitioners will have an intensive study and work program over 2 years.

Subjects will include Anatomy and Physiology, Psychology, Behaviour, Biomechanics, and more

There are practical hands on as well as theory sessions

Practical experience turns into writing up case studies with photographic evidence of changes and responses

There will be exams at the end of the study period both written and practical

The college would like to invite any interested people to attend an EMRT™ / CCmrt™ course.

Do you wish to be both an Equine Practitioner AND  a Small Animal Practitioner?

If you are a horse person and would like to train in both EMRT™ & CCmrt™ because you own both species apply to do EMRT™ first. A bridging course in CCmrt™ will then be offered after your EMRT™ practitioner training

Course Listings

2-Year Part Time Program

EMRT™ and CCmrt™ Practitioners will be granted a certificate on successful completion of all components of study.

The course will consist of attendance at the Equus College of Learning & Research and Distance Learning components.

Professional Recognition Registration will be through the Equus College of Learning & Research and BOWTECH® BOWENWORK® The Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia. Membership to the affiliated Association will be possible after successful completion of requirements.

EM1000 – EMRT™ Practitioner Certification Training Course for the Equine.

CM1000 – CCmrt™ Practitioner Certification Training Course for the Cat and Canine.

Who Becomes a Practitioner?

EMRT™ Practitioners come form all walks of life and include Mounted Police men and women, Race Horse Owners/trainers, Journalists, Pharmacists, Farriers, Equine dentists, House wives, Blood Stock agents, Veterinarians, Travellers, Horse Breeders, University graduates, Farmers, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, Cowboys, Producers of National champions in their equine discipline [Racing, Eventing, Show jumping, Campdrafting, Riding Horse, Endurance].

CCmrt Practitioners come from many disciplines, which include Showing, Obedience, Agility, Jumping, Endurance, Field trials, Tracking, Gun Dogs, Eventing, Dancing, Racing, Breeding or Companion Animal Ownership.

 

Who is eligible for R.P.L.’s [recognition of prior learning]?

N.B. Exceptions for RPL’s the Equus College of Learning & Research Anatomy & Physiology study component will only be made possibly for students already holding recognised Veterinary, Equine/Canine Chiropractic, Equine/Canine Osteopathy or Equine/Canine Physiotherapy qualifications.  Certification of these must be submitted with your original application. Where can practitioners practise once Qualified and Registered?

All persons qualified as a Practitioner in EMRT™/CCmrt™ have the security of knowing that EMRT™/CCmrt™ courses are standardized through out the world. For Professional purposes they must know and uphold the laws governing the particular Country.  It is the responsibility of each practitioner to know and up hold the laws in each Country / State they work in. Please refer to ECL&R disclaimer on front inside cover.

 

What is the ECL&R’s role with the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia [BTAA]?

1997 EMRT™ was recognised as the only Official Equine Bowen world wide with practitioners eligible to be registered with the BTAA.

2001 CCmrt™ was introduced as the Official Small Animal Bowen through the BTAA.

2005 Oswald Rentsch Officiated at the Marriage of the BTAA and ECL&R bringing exclusivity to the two institutions governing Bowtech® Bowenwork® on Humans and Animals.                                                                                       

Conditions of Enrolment

These courses are structured for those who wish to make a professional career in EMRT™ Equine therapy or CCmrt™ Cat and Canine therapy.

We are seeking applicants with extensive horse or dog/cat experience and first rate handling skills.

As the training involves a commitment in attending training seminars, workshops and studying by Distance Learning, be able to carry out the correct literacy and numeracy skills required to complete the course.

Make a sincere commitment to complete the course only few places are available each year, by not completing you may be stopping someone else from attending.

You are expected to adhere to a stated code of conduct both during and after training.

Practitioners are required to Continue their Education and Professional Development following completion of the Basic Practitioner Course to remain registered as an accredited Practitioner with the BTAA & ECL&R.

Practitioners are required to register annually through the Equus College of Learning & Research to be listed on the Equine/Cat & Canine Register of the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia and the Bowen Association of your country.

You are required to carry approved Insurance and adhere to the Equus College Codes of Conduct and Ethics.

Be 18 years of age or older.

  • Acceptance is restricted to 12 places per Practitioner Course.

  • On enquiry you will be sent an application form inviting you to submit your CV.

  • Suitable Applicants will be admitted onto the next available course.

  • Your Tutors, Lecturers and Examiners include professionals from both the Allopathic [Veterinary] and Naturopathic [Holistic] worlds.

  • A Practitioner Award is given at the successful completion of all requirements both theoretical and practical of all  modules.

  • Bowtech® Bowenwork® training is run in conjunction with the EMRT™ and CCmrt™ Courses with qualified Bowen Academy Instructors

  • All Animal courses are co-taught by qualified teachers trained by the director & developer EMRT™/CCmrt™, Alison Goward, Dip. SM RM QINS. QSMI [Principal] BTAA BAA, and:-

  • Guest lecturers from the Allopathic and Naturopathic fields and EMRT™ / CCmrt™, Equine / Cat & Canine Specialist Veterinary Surgeons.

  • EMRT™ & CCmrt™ is taught following the principles and philosophies as laid down by the ECL&R and the BTAA.
